**The Buzzcocks Bio** The Buzzcocks were a seminal UK punk band formed in Bolton in February 1976 by Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto. They gained attention with their headline "It's The Buzz, Cock!" Initially, the lineup consisted of Pete Shelley on guitar, Howard Devoto on vocals, an unnamed bassist, and Mick Singleton on drums, performing only one gig with no released recordings. The band underwent several lineup changes in the following years. From July 1976 to February 1977, they featured Shelley, Devoto, a bassist born in 1956, and an unnamed drummer. From March 11, 1977, to October 7, 1977, the lineup included Shelley on guitar and vocals, Steve Diggle on guitar, John Maher on drums, and Garth Smith on bass. In November 1977, Adamson filled in on bass while they held auditions for a permanent bassist, playing six dates without any released recordings. The most notable lineup, from November 1977 to March 6, 1981, consisted of Shelley, Diggle, Maher, and a bassist born in 1958. This group released three studio albums, two in 1978 and one in 1979, along with a classic singles compilation. The band disbanded in 1981. After reforming in 1989, they had another brief reunion from January 29 to February 18, 1992
