The California Playboys were a musical collective active in the early 1970s, known for serving as the backing band for R&B singer Lester Young on several 45 singles. They later ventured out to record their own full-length LP titled "Trying To Become A Millionaire." The band featured primary arranger Robert Jacobs on guitar, along with Julian Vaught on second guitar and sax, Lenell Salone on guitar, Kelvin Dixon on vocals and drums, Jackie Rogers on trumpet, Kenney Dunaway on guitar, and William Smith as the lead singer.
