The Carltons were a musical group formed by lead singer Larry Bell, along with Jimmy Diggs and Jerry Norris. They released three singles on the Argo label, a subsidiary of Chess, between 1964 and 1965. Their initial releases were heavily influenced by the popular sound of The Impressions. However, with their final record, they began to develop a unique style, showcasing a different approach to lead vocals and backup harmonies. Despite their potential, the group disbanded before they could further explore this sound. Originating from Washington D.C., The Carltons found their way to the Chicago label scene.
