The Chantays are a Californian surf rock band formed in 1961. The original line-up consisted of Bob Spickard on guitar, Brian Carman on guitar, Bob Welch on drums, Warren Waters on bass, and Rob Marshall on piano. Spickard and Carman co-wrote the widely known hit "Pipeline" in 1962, which charted in 1963, the same year they released their first album. The band toured Japan and the US and was honored on April 12, 1996, on Hollywood’s Rock Walk, becoming the first Orange County California band to receive this recognition.
