The Cheers were a rock and roll vocal group known for their hits in the mid-1950s. They first gained attention with "(Bazoom') I Need Your Lovin'", which reached number fifteen on the U.S. chart in 1954. This song was notable as the first hit written by the duo Leiber and Stoller to chart on the Pop charts in the United States, and it was one of the first rock and roll hits by a white group. The following year, they released "Black Denim Trousers and Motorcycle Boots," also written by Leiber and Stoller, which became a hit, reaching number six on the charts. The song tells the story of a wild-living leather-jacketed motorcyclist.
