**Bio: The Children of Darkness** Formed in Newark, Ohio between 1966 and 1968, The Children of Darkness emerged from the local band King James and his Royal Pheasants. The group consisted of Mike Hopper on organ and Howard Bartram on bass, who recruited James Ford (rhythm guitar), John Hull (lead guitar), and Terry Lanning (drums) to complete the lineup. Initially named the Poets, they decided to change their name after discovering a national band already using that name. Thus, much to the dismay of their parents, The Children of Darkness was born.
