The Clean is an indie rock band formed in Dunedin, New Zealand, in 1978. They originally disbanded in 1982 but reunited in 1988, touring sporadically since then. The band's drummer, Hamish Kilgour, passed away in December 2022. During their time apart, they continued to release songs, including rarities and live recordings. The Clean has been cited as a significant influence by various bands. In September 2017, they were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
