The Collectors were formed in Vancouver, Canada, in 1961, originally known as the CFUN Classics. They released two singles in 1963 and one single in 1966 before renaming themselves as The Collectors. In 1969, Howard Vickberg (Howie Vickers) left the group, and the remaining members reconstituted themselves as a new band, with Bill Henderson taking over lead vocals.
