The Contours were an American soul singing group signed to Motown Records, renowned for their classic 1962 hit, "Do You Love Me," which achieved million-selling status and experienced a resurgence in popularity in 1988. The group was formed in 1959, with original members including Billy Gordon, Billy Hoggs, Joe Billingslea, Hubert Johnson, and Leroy Fair. Over the years, the lineup changed, with members such as Benny Reeves, Sylvester Potts, Earl Murray, Council Gay, Jerry Green, Alvin English, and Joe Stubbs joining at various times. Dennis Edwards was also part of the group until 1968. Huey Davis served as the guitarist throughout most of the 1960s but was never considered an official member.
