The Controllers are an R'n'B vocal quartet formed in 1965 in Fairfield, Alabama, U.S.A. Initially starting under a different name, they changed it after releasing one single. The group released eight albums between 1977 and 1997. In 1976, they signed to a label and released their first three albums in the late 70s, with production by the label owner. In 1980, they signed to another label for three more albums, produced by various producers. In the late 90s, they recorded with yet another label, with production by different producers. Their final album was a self-produced comeback in 1997. The Controllers have covered songs such as "Love's In Need Of Love Today" (1978) and "Superstition" (1997), as well as "Distant Lover" (1986).
