The Cool Notes is a British seven-piece band from Brixton, London. Originally starting as a reggae outfit, they later transitioned to a soul/funk style. They gained recognition in the reggae genre with a No. 1 hit on the specialist charts in 1978. The band made their first appearance on the UK pop charts in 1984, reaching No. 42 with their second soul single. The members of The Cool Notes include Peter Rowlands on drums, Joseph John Charles on rhythm guitar, Ian Dunstan on bass, Lorraine McIntosh, Heather Austin, and Steve McIntosh on vocals (with Steve also playing keyboards), and Peter Lee Gordon on guitar.
