The Cravats are a neo-dadaist group formed in March 1977 in Redditch, UK. The original line-up included The Shend (bass, vocals), Rob Dallaway (guitar, vocals), Richard London (saxophone, clarinet), and Dave Bennett (drums, vocals). Guitarist/vocalist Martin Seys departed early, and drummer Ethos Yapp left after the recording of their first single, "Gordon." The classic line-up, consisting of The Shend, Robin Raymond Dallaway, Svor Naan, and Dave Bennett, went on to release six more singles and two full albums, primarily through Small Wonder, with several tracks appearing in the indie charts Top 30. Between July 1979 and November 1982, they recorded four sessions for the renowned John Peel radio show. Embracing their dada influences, they established the “DadaCravat Laboratories” (D.c.L), which allowed them to explore various aliases and more danceable music. The classic line-up only changed for their final 12” release in 1985, which featured Disney Time on drums, while Naan and Bennett were absent. A reformed version of The Cravats, featuring original members The Shend and Svor Naan, along with Rampton Garstang on drums, has been active since August 2009. This line-up has included Viscount Biscuits (guitar) and Joe 91
