The Cure is an English new wave, post-punk, and pop rock band that was formed in 1976 in Crawley, West Sussex. Initially named Malice in 1976 and later Easy Cure in 1977, the band adopted the name The Cure in 1978. Throughout its history, The Cure has experienced numerous line-up changes, but Robert Smith has remained the consistent frontman, songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist since the band's inception. The Cure was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
