The Darkness is a British rock band formed in Lowestoft, Suffolk in 2000 by brothers Justin and Dan Hawkins. Together with bassist Frankie Poullain and drummer Ed Graham, the band recorded and released their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003. Poullain left the band in 2005 and was replaced by a new bassist before the release of One Way Ticket to Hell ...and Back. In October 2006, lead singer Justin Hawkins announced he had left the band. On 15 March 2011, after a 5-year hiatus, The Darkness announced a reunion. The following year, they released their third studio album, Hot Cakes. Drummer Ed Graham was replaced by a new drummer for the album Last of Our Kind (2015), but she left the band before the album was released. With their new drummer, The Darkness has released two studio albums: Pinewood Smile (2017) and Easter Is Cancelled (2019).
