The Darkside is a musical project that emerged from the influential drone-rock scene, led by Pete "Bassman" Bain. Originating from the West Midlands/Rugby, England, the group's name was inspired by the song "Dark Side." Pete had previously been a member of Spacemen 3 but left before the release of their 1988 album "Playing With Fire." After his departure, he returned to Rugby to play casually with guitarist, drummer, and keyboard player Stewart Rosswell, who was also an ex-member of Spacemen 3. The Darkside released two full-length studio albums, a live album, and several EPs and singles before disbanding in the mid-1990s.
