The David was a psychedelic group based in Los Angeles, CA, active during the mid- to late-1960s. The band was formed by neighbors in Brentwood, CA, who played drums and vocals and keyboards. They were joined by friends from Palisades High School, including Mike Butte on guitar and another member on bass. The lead guitarist was the last to join the group. Initially named 'The Reasons,' they changed their name after their manager noted that getting a hit record is as difficult as a fight between David and Goliath. Their first contract for a single was with a label that aimed to break into the rock scene.
