The Dead Weather is a musical group that emerged from a spontaneous jam session at Jack White's Third Man studio in Nashville in early January 2009. The band formed as its members were exploring different creative directions, leading to a collaborative effort that resulted in their debut album, "Horehound." Released on July 13, 2009, in Europe and the following day in North America, the album marked a significant event in the musical landscape of 2009. The band features Alison 'VV' Mosshart, who provides lead vocals, backing guitar, percussion, and contributes to the lyrics. Dean Fertita showcases his multi-instrumentalist talents on guitar, bass, organ, piano, synth, and backing vocals. Jack Lawrence adds his skills on bass, guitar, drums, and backing vocals, while Jack White, also known as Jack White III, plays drums, leads and backs vocals, and delivers his distinctive lead guitar style. The Dead Weather made their live debut at Third Man HQ in Nashville on March 11, 2009, followed by the release of their single "Hang You From The Heavens." The album includes three tracks available for download in the "Rock Band" video game, and the band also released the single "I Cut Like A Buffalo" in October 2009, accompanied by a cover of "A Child Of A Few Hours Is Burning To Death."
