The Delfonics were a prominent Philly soul vocal group active from the late 1960s until the mid-1970s. They are recognized as pioneers of the "silky and sweet" soul sound, featuring soft and lush male vocal harmonies that influenced the genre in the early 1970s. Much of their music was crafted by the legendary Philadelphia songwriting team, alongside their lead vocalist, William Hart. The group's most notable hits include "La-La (Means I Love You)," the Grammy-winning "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)," and "Ready Or Not Here I Come," all of which have been extensively sampled by numerous hip hop artists. In the mid-1980s, the main recording lineup consisted of William Hart, Wilbert Hart, and Randy Cain, although they often toured as two separate trios with additional members such as Freddie Ingleton, Johnny ("JJ") Johnson, Pat Palmer, Dr. Sallam Love, and Johnney Smalls. William Hart, the songwriter, lead vocalist, and founder of the group, was born on January 17, 1945, in Washington, DC, and remained active until his passing in 2022. Wilbert Hart was born on October 19, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has continued his involvement with the group. Randy Cain was born on May 2, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was part of the group until 1971. Other notable
