The Deviants were a UK underground band formed in the 1960s, based in Ladbroke Grove, London. Founded by journalist and singer/songwriter Mick Farren, the band was initially named The Social Deviants before shortening their name to The Deviants. The lineup included Farren on vocals, Sid Bishop on guitar, Cord Rees on bass, and Russell Hunter on drums. Rees was later replaced by Duncan Sanderson, and Paul Rudolph eventually took over for Bishop. The band was sometimes billed as Mick Farren & The Deviants, leveraging Farren's popularity and street credibility. In 1970, after an American tour, Rudolph, Sanderson, and Hunter went on to form The Pink Fairies, alongside members from The Pretty Things.
