The Diamond Five was a renowned hard bop band from the Netherlands, established in 1957 by Cees Slinger as the resident band of the Sheherazade jazz club in Amsterdam. Initially featuring Dick van der Capellen on bass, the band faced a change in 1958 when van der Capellen could not continue due to a car accident, leading Jacques Schols to join the group. The Diamond Five disbanded in 1964 as pop music gained popularity over jazz.
