The Diamonettes were a female soul group from Miami, Florida, active during the 1960s and 1970s. The group consisted of Shirley Levan, Betty Joe Johnson, Sharon Simmons, and Mary Smith, who was the sister of Helene Smith. Known for their vocal talents, The Diamonettes provided backup for numerous mid-60s recording sessions, particularly those produced by Johnny Pearsall, Willie Clarke, and Clarence Reid. Despite their contributions to the music scene, they released only a couple of 45s under their own name.
