The Dillards are a US progressive bluegrass and country rock group based in Los Angeles, California. Originally formed around singer-guitarist Doug Dillard and his banjo-playing brother Rodney, who both grew up in Salem, Missouri, the group also included mandolin player and bassist. In 1962, they relocated to Los Angeles, where they met producer and secured a record deal, releasing five albums for the label. In 1967, Doug left the group to collaborate with another artist, recording two albums. Following his departure, banjo player, singer, and songwriter joined the group, leading to a shift towards a more country rock style. The Dillards experienced several lineup changes throughout the 1970s, recording for various labels. The group continued to perform well into the 1990s, with Doug and Rodney also releasing albums together.
