The Doors were an American psychedelic rock and blues rock band formed in July 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The original lineup included Jim Morrison as the lead vocalist, Ray Manzarek on keyboards and organ, Robby Krieger on guitar, and John Densmore on drums. Patricia Sullivan was also part of the band as a bassist in its early days. The band gained prominence with their unique sound but faced a significant loss with the death of Jim Morrison on July 3, 1971, in Paris. Following his passing, the remaining members released two more albums, which did not achieve the same success as their earlier works. The Doors officially disbanded in April 1973. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Throughout their active years, the band reunited multiple times, with activities spanning from 1965 to 2013. The Doors had a variety of touring and live members, including Jack Conrad, Bobby Ray Henson, and notable guest artists such as Eddie Vedder and Scott Weiland. They also collaborated with several session musicians over the years, contributing to their albums with various instruments and vocals. Despite the changes in lineup and the challenges faced after Morrison's death, The Doors remain a significant influence in the rock music genre.
