The Doubling Riders emerged from a diverse array of new-wave and experimental folk groups in Italy during the early 1980s. Initially conceived as a mail-art project by Francesco Paladino, the project featured multi-instrumentalist Pier Luigi Andreoni under the name F.P & The Doubling Riders, collaborating with various international talents. As the band evolved, they incorporated Riccardo Sinigaglia and established a more stable lineup. The Doubling Riders became an unclassifiable, genre-hopping ensemble, leading the charge in the Italian new-music scene.
