Drowning Craze was a post-punk band formed in the early 1980s, active from 1980 to 1982. The band originated with a New York-born vocalist who moved to London to study voice and musical theater. Although they were on the cutting edge of early-'80s British music, Drowning Craze is primarily remembered as a platform for musicians who later achieved greater success. After the release of their debut single, "Storage Case," the original vocalist, Jaeger, left the band to return to college and subsequently sang with various artists. The band's most notable single, "Trance," featured Chicago-born Frankie Nardiello (aka ) and received acclaim as "single of the week" from British music magazines NME and Melody Maker. Despite their promising sound, Drowning Craze disbanded by late 1982 before they could fully realize their potential.
