The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa is a Czech alternative band that originated in 1990, initially embracing a shoegaze style influenced by bands like My Bloody Valentine. Their second album, "Free-D," marked a shift towards ambient music. The band disbanded in 1994 but was revived in 1997 by Jan Muchow, transitioning into an electronic sound with Kateřina Winterová as a key member. This lineup released three albums and remained active in concerts until 2007. The band was sporadically active until 2016, performing seven gigs in 2010 and only one in 2016. After a hiatus from 2016 to 2024, Muchow and Winterová, alongside other guest musicians, are set to revive the band in the spring of 2024.
