The Edicates were a band based in Columbus, Ohio, active from 1965 to 1970. Formed by high school students in early 1965, the band derived their name from a misunderstanding of "Ettiquettes." Over time, they underwent personnel changes, including the departure of lead guitarist Jim Fox and the addition of keyboard player Mike Finks. The Edicates gained recognition after winning a Battle of the Bands, competing against 30 other local bands, which earned them a recording session at Mus-I-Col. During this session, they recorded two original songs, "Worried Mind" and "She's Gone." In January 1969, the band performed on the WLW-C Dance Party, featuring the lineup of Mike Finks, Joe Dodge, Glen Cataline, and Tim Fleischer.
