Greg Broussard, known as The Egyptian Lover, is a Los Angeles-based producer and a pioneering artist in the Electronic Boogie genre. His recordings began to emerge in the mid-'80s, following the established electro scenes in New York and Miami. Tracks like "Egypt, Egypt" became staples among club DJs, especially in the break-dance community. Early works such as "Computer Love" and "Dance" showcased his experimental approach, while his later material incorporated more vocals and melodic hooks, leaning towards rap. Although much of his work comes from this latter phase, his earlier releases are often regarded as his most accomplished and continue to influence a new generation of producers, including Autechre and I-F. In addition to his solo work, he was a member of Uncle Jamm's Army and founded several labels, including Freak Beat and Egyptian Empire. After nearly a decade, he released the digitally edited compilation "Pyramix" and later produced new tracks in his signature funky electro style for the album "Back From the Tomb." The Egyptian Lover Fan Club was once located at P.O. Box 19301, L.A., Calif. 90019, but is now defunct.
