The Electric Prunes are a psychedelic rock band formed in 1965 in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. They achieved their highest success on the US charts in 1966 with the hit "I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night," which peaked at #11. In 1967, they released two albums: "The Electric Prunes: I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)" and "Underground." The band broke up in 1968 during the recording sessions for their third album, "Mass in F Minor," which was completed by David Axelrod and the producer using session musicians and a Canadian band. A fourth album, "Release Of An Oath," was also released in 1968, arranged by Axelrod and produced with session musicians. In 1969, a project titled "Just Good Old Rock And Roll" was recorded under the name of The Improved New Electric Prunes, as the original name was legally owned by their producer. The original band re-formed 30 years later, touring in 2001 and releasing a new CD, "Artifact," and a DVD, "Rewired," in 2002. The classic line-up is regarded as Jim Lowe (vocals), James "Weasel" Spagnola (guitar), Ken Williams (guitar), Mark Tulin (bass), and Preston Ritter (drums).
