The Elegants were an American doo-wop vocal group formed in 1958 in South Beach, Staten Island, New York, by Vito Picone, Arthur Venosa, Frank Tardogno, Carmen Romano, and James Moschella. They initially performed informally under the boardwalk near their homes. The group's most notable hit, "Little Star," inspired by nursery rhymes, became a number one hit and their only million seller, spending 19 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning gold disc status. The song also reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1958. James Moschello passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 88.
