The Equitables were a studio band based out of New York, primarily consisting of Vincentian musicians. They were active from the mid-1970s to the late 1990s, performing on numerous calypso and soca releases. From the mid-1980s onward, many band members overlapped with another band, and both groups recorded for the same label. In the 1980s, the backing vocalists included several artists, while in the 1990s, different vocalists were featured.
