The Escorts were a vocal group from the New Jersey area, active from the early 1970s through the 1980s. The original lineup consisted of seven singers: Reginald Haynes, Lawrence Franklin, Robert Arrington, William Dugger, Stephen Carter, Frank Heard, and Marion Murphy. Notably, all members were prison convicts, having been incarcerated at New Jersey's Rahway State Prison. A producer gained permission to bring recording equipment into the prison, allowing the group to record their vocals. Their discography is not exhaustive, as some recordings, such as the 7" single "The Sho-Nuff," are still missing.
