The Ex is a Dutch band formed in 1979 in Amsterdam. Initially an anarcho-punk band, they have since incorporated various musical styles, including jazz, noise, free improvisation, and ethnic/world music, while maintaining a focus on anarchism in their lyrics. The founding members included vocals, guitar, bass, and drums. In 1984, a new drummer joined the band, and a guitarist came on board in 1990. In 2009, Sok was replaced by a new member on vocals and guitar.
