The Executioners were a legendary band from Youngstown, Ohio, active from 1962 to 1966. The group consisted of Richard Yeager on vocals and saxophone, Ed Wasczak on lead guitar, Dick Strojny on organ, Andy Glista on bass, and Terry Grimm on drums. They gained popularity in the Mahoning Valley with their tight R&B-styled instrumentals, achieving local hits with songs like "The Guillotine" and "The Noose." Known for their theatrical stage presence, they performed in executioner costumes and used props, predating Alice Cooper's similar style. The band successfully transitioned to a British-influenced garage rock sound with their final single, "I Want the Rain," released on Swan Records.
