The Fabulous Playboys were a 1950s-1960s R&B group hailing from Detroit, Michigan. They originally performed under a different name in 1956. When one of the original members was drafted in 1963, their manager refused to let the group disband. He took The Fabulous Playboys, who had recorded on labels such as Daco, Apollo, and Contour and were associated with Federal, and transformed them into the second incarnation of the Falcons. The group continued to perform as the Falcons after this transition.
