**Bio: The Fantoms** The Fantoms were a soul group formed in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1968. The band originated from a one-off 15-piece ensemble created by then-high-school student and keyboardist William Norflin, along with a funk band led by tenor sax player Milton Lewis. Initially consisting of ten members, the group featured a rhythm section with Arther “Tidi” James on bass, Arther Bell on guitar, William “Will” Norflin on keyboards, and Winston Shy on drums. The horn section included Emmanuel “Boo” Herrera and Milton Lewis on alto and tenor sax, Ronald Mitchell on trumpet, and Alphonse Davis on trombone, complemented by lead singers Ronald Trudeau and Anthony Rainey. In 1969, the original lineup changed when the bassist, along with the tenor and alto sax players, were conscripted. Robino Barnes replaced the bassist, and the Fantoms continued without a permanent guitarist, with Walter “Wolfman” Washington filling in temporarily from 1969 to 1972. In 1973, Milton Lewis left to form the Family Underground, taking with him Ronald Trudeau, Ronald Mitchell, and Winston Shy. William Norflin retained the name the Fantoms and continued with Robino Barnes, Anthony Rainey, and new members horn player Maxie Washington and second bassist Rodney Lagard. The dual bassist arrangement proved ineffective, leading to Barnes' departure. As the band progressed
