The Five Americans were a 1960s American garage rock band best known for their hit song "Western Union." Originally formed as The Mutineers, the band hailed from Durant, Oklahoma, but spent much of their career in Dallas, Texas. During their six-year recording period from 1965 to 1971, they released four albums and 22 singles. After releasing eight additional low-charting singles in 1971, the band decided to disband, having grown tired of touring. The original members of The Five Americans included Mike Rabon, John Durrill, Norm Ezell, Jim Grant, and Jimmy Wright.
