The Flairs were a US vocal group formed in Los Angeles, CA, in the early 1950s. Originally named "The Debonairs" and briefly "The Flairs" on one release, they were renamed "The Flairs" by a label executive after the label name. The original lineup from 1953 to 1955 included Beverly Thompson (tenor), Cornell Gunter, Thomas "Pete" Fox (tenor), Obadiah Jessie (baritone), and Richard Berry (bass). This lineup disbanded in 1955, leading to a revival as "Cornel Gunter And" later that year, followed by "Cornel Gunter And" again. The second lineup, active from 1955 to 1958, consisted of Cornell Gunter, Kenneth Byley (first tenor), Thomas Miller (baritone), and Felton George Hollis (bass). After the second group broke up in 1958, they were finally renamed "The Flairs" in 1959. This new iteration of the group was known for their 1961 hit "Foot Stompin', Pt. 1."
