The Fleshtones are a garage rock revivalist band formed in 1976 in Queens, New York. The lineup includes vocalist/keyboardist Peter Zaremba, guitarist Keith Streng, bassist Jan Marek Pakulski, and drummer Bill Milhizer. They aim to return rock & roll to the simplicity and unselfconsciousness of the '50s and early '60s, blending fuzz guitar and Farfisa organ sounds with rockabilly, '50s and '60s R&B, and surf music into what they call "super rock." The band gained attention with their early single "American Beat," which led to a deal with independent label Red Star and later I.R.S. They released their debut EP, Up-Front, in 1980, followed by their first full-length album, Roman Gods, and the unreleased studio album Blast Off! in 1978. Their 1983 album Hexbreaker is widely regarded as their finest work. Throughout the '80s, they continued to record, releasing Powerstance in 1992, which marked the debut of bassist Ken Fox, who replaced Pakulski and has remained with the group. Although their popularity waned in the late '90s, they made a comeback in 2003 after signing with Yep Roc Records, releasing the acclaimed album Do You Swing? followed by Beachhead in 2005. The band also engages in side projects, including Keith Streng's band
