The Floaters

The Floaters are a soul band formed in 1976 in Detroit, Michigan, by members of another group. The original lineup featured Larry Cunningham (Cancer, tenor vocals), Paul Mitchell (Leo, baritone vocals), Ralph Mitchell (Aquarius, tenor vocals), and lead singer Charles Clark (Libra, tenor vocals). The band enjoyed their only major success with the 1977 single "Float On." Despite experiencing a few changes in their lineup, they remained active throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Larry Cunningham passed away on January 10, 2019, at the age of 67, and Paul Mitchell died on December 20, 2021.
