The Flying Burrito Brothers was an influential country rock band formed in 1968, renowned for their debut album released in 1969. The band is often associated with country rock legends Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, both of whom were former members of The Byrds. The original lineup included Parsons and Hillman as primary vocalists, guitarists, and composers, along with pedal steel guitarist Sneaky Pete Kleinow, bassist Chris Ethridge, and a rotating series of drummers. Michael Clarke, also a former Byrds member, later became the permanent drummer, while Ethridge was replaced by guitarist Bernie Leadon after Hillman switched to bass following the first album. After the release of their second album, Burrito Deluxe, Parsons was succeeded as frontman by Rick Roberts for one studio album and a live album. The group eventually splintered, with Hillman and Leadon joining other projects, while Roberts dissolved the band after a 1973 European tour. In the mid-1970s, Kleinow and Ethridge reformed the band with new members, leading to a Nashville-centered incarnation of the band that recorded and toured through the 1980s. In the mid-1980s, Kleinow revived the Flying Burrito Brothers name, later joined by Gib and John. Over the years, the band underwent numerous incarnations, primarily led by Beland, and released several albums featuring various guest artists.
