The Flying Burrito Brothers were an influential country rock band formed in 1968, known for their groundbreaking debut album released in 1969. The band is often associated with country rock legends Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, both former members of The Byrds, although they experienced many lineup changes over the years. The original lineup featured Parsons and Hillman as primary vocalists, guitarists, and songwriters, accompanied by pedal steel guitarist Sneaky Pete Kleinow, bassist Chris Ethridge, and a rotating cast of drummers. Eventually, former Byrds member Michael Clarke became the permanent drummer, while Ethridge was replaced by guitarist Bernie Leadon after Hillman transitioned to bass following the first album. After their second album, "Burrito Deluxe," Gram Parsons was succeeded as frontman by Rick Roberts for one studio album and a live album. The band then splintered, with Chris Hillman and his replacement joining other projects, while Leadon formed another group. Following a European tour in 1973, Rick Roberts disbanded the group to pursue a solo career. In the mid-1970s, original members Kleinow and Ethridge reformed the band with new musicians, including former Byrds members. A Nashville-centered version of the band emerged, led by Hillman and Roberts, which recorded and toured through the 1980s.
