The Four Sonics were a soul group from Detroit, Michigan, active during the 1960s and 1970s. The group originally consisted of Bill Frazier (tenor lead), Steve Gaston (tenor), Eddie Daniels (baritone), and Jay Johnson (bass). They recorded two singles for the short-lived Sport label, which was active for about a year and released eleven singles, many of which have become collectible in the northern soul scene. The Four Sonics evolved from a group called The Velvet Angels and also recorded material for the Sepia, Trible B, and JMC labels, occasionally performing under the name Four Sonics + 1.
