The Free was a Eurodance group formed in 1994 by producers Felix J. Gauder and Olaf Bossi, known for their work with Das Modul. The group featured Charles Simmons as the frontman and singer, along with Iris Trevisan, who left in 1995 due to health reasons and was replaced by Ayla J. (Alida). The Free achieved notable success with hits such as "Born Crazy," "Lover On the Line," "Dance the Night Away," and "Loveletter from Space." In a 2003 interview, Simmons expressed doubt about a potential comeback, stating that while they enjoyed their time together, each member had moved on to different pursuits. Olaf was attending Audio Engineering school, Felix was producing for Jimmy Sommerville and had a hit project called Novaspace, Simmons was focusing on R&B, Hip-Hop, and Pop, and Alida was married and residing in the USA.
