The Free Design was a vocal group based in Delevan, New York, known for their jazzy pop music, often categorized as sunshine pop and baroque pop. The original lineup consisted of siblings Chris Dedrick, Sandy Dedrick, and Bruce Dedrick, with Chris being the primary songwriter. Later, younger sisters Ellen and Stephanie Dedrick joined the group, with Stephanie coming in towards the end of their initial career. The group disbanded in 1972. In 2000, after nearly 30 years of inactivity, The Free Design reunited to record "Endless Harmony" for the Beach Boys tribute album "Caroline Now." This led to the release of a new full-length album, "Cosmic Peekaboo," in 2001, featuring the original members. Chris Dedrick passed away on August 6, 2010, at the age of 62 due to cancer.
