The French Impressionists were a jazzy Scottish band active from June 1981 to spring 1983. The band was initially the creation of a Glaswegian songwriter and pianist, who was later joined by a singer (who was eventually replaced by various other singers), drummer Barry Ross, and a bassist. Their first release was a track on a compilation. The group, styled as The Frimps, later released a 7" and a 12" single, both on Les Disques Du Crépuscule. In 2007, Malcolm Fisher assembled a new version of the group and released two albums, Fête and Amelia Rosselli, on the LTM label.
