The Freshies were formed in 1977 and were active for five years. During this time, they self-released three studio albums on cassette: "All Sleeps Secrets" (1977), which featured Sievey on all instruments; "The Girls From Banana Island" (1979); and "Rough 'N' Ready" (1980). In 1981, they recorded "The Johnny Radar Story," their highest budget release, which they self-financed in hopes of securing a wider release through a label. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and the financial strain led to the band's dismantling. In 1982, Sievey revived The Freshies as a duo with Barbara O'Donovan, releasing one single, "Fasten Your Seatbelts," before disbanding again. After 37 years and following Sievey's death, Barry Spencer and Rick Sarko reformed The Freshies with two new members, releasing new material on their YouTube channel, inspired by the documentary "Being Frank."
