The Gallahads are a vocal group from Seattle, WA, with origins dating back to 1952. Initially formed as a neighborhood club called the Strokers by a few teenaged African American students at Edmond Meany Junior High School, they later became known as the Echoes. The original members included Jimmy Pipkin, Anthony "Tiny Tony" Smith, Clifton Jones, Joe Hardy, and Bobby Dixon. Over time, the lineup changed as Hardy was removed and Jones drifted away. The new configuration consisted of Pipkin (tenor), Smith (baritone), Dixon (lead/second tenor), and newcomer Ernie Rouse (bass).
