The Ganges Orchestra was an occasional recording outfit led by Steve Coe, featuring a vocalist or instrumentalist along with various musicians who participated in the studio sessions. This approach resulted in spontaneous musical creations that were later structured and polished during mixing. In the 1980s, Coe worked on these one-off recordings while also producing solo albums. "The Dream" marked the first recording he made after his involvement with the project in 1982-83.
