The Gimmicks is a Swedish musical group founded by Leif Carlqvist in 1968. They are known for their Swedish interpretations of samba hits, drawing inspiration from groups like Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66. Their unique take on "Latin Groove" led to international releases and recordings in English. Over the years, the lineup of the group changed, but they remained a popular choice for bookings worldwide. In 1975, The Gimmicks participated in the Swedish pre-selections for the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing second with their song "Sången lär ha vingar." The group disbanded a few years later but made a comeback in 2005 with new members, still under the leadership of Leif Carlqvist. While none of their records achieved exceptional sales, they have gained a reputation among record collectors globally.
